Based in Midcoast Maine, Serpent Scale Systems LLC is a veteran owned and operated business.  With extensive experience in Naval Design, Marine Engineering, and Governmental Contracting, our team has been creating innovative solutions for Marine problems for over 40 years.

 

Meet the Team

William Peterson

President/CEO

Raised on the coast of Maine by family working in naval architecture and teaching, Bill is a retired Surface Navy Captain with extensive sea time and three combat tours.  He holds a BS in Naval Architecture and has lead design initiatives for numerous U.S. Navy vessels. During his career, Bill established command to plan and evaluate technologies for U. S. Navy fleets, was Vice President and President of four technology development companies in Maryland and New England and Managing Director of a shipyard designing and constructing naval vessels. Designed and supervised large commercial and recreational craft for domestic and international markets and led numerous technology programs for the LPD-17, DDG-51, SSN-774, DDG-1000 and LCS-2. Bill is an international expert in stability and trim, experienced marine design and modeling tools and in the launch and recovery of small craft from larger vessels at sea.

Benjamin Fearn

Technology Manager

Raised by a family serving in the Marine Corps and U.S. Coast Guard, Ben holds an AS in Naval Architecture and a BA in International Security and History.  He served in the Marine Corps in combat as a Signals Intelligence Operator.  He worked offshore as a commercial fisherman in addition to designing and constructing fishing vessels and small craft. Ben is experienced in project management, contracts and U.S. government processes having worked on the staff of a U.S. Senator. Accomplished in design/analysis tools including CAD, Rhino3D/CFD and SolidWorks. Ben leads research and development efforts and communication with the team and customers on technical matters.

Amanda Similien

Program Manager

Raised on the Maine coast by a family working in development and the hospitality sector, Amanda holds a BS in Geology (University of Puget Sound, 1998), has traveled extensively and is fluent in multiple languages. She served in the Peace Corps in Haiti (99-01) helping to grow a local cooperative into a regional business and enhanced product development and contract administration working in Economic Development. Amanda also managed operations and logistics in both hotel and catering businesses. She is fluent in management tools and software including ProjectManager, Gantt, website development and customer communications. Amanda manages all program deliverables, patent and licensing processes and the execution of commercialization strategies.
